My Cleaning Secret

I don’t clean.

At least not all the time, or as often as I should.  After waking up at 6am and getting home 12 hours later, who wants to? I sure don’t.  Not to mention that I have to cook and eat dinner, try to clean up the mess from that, shower, and maybe spend time with my husband.  One thing that does happen is the vacuuming, I do that at least every other day.  With two gatos walking around throwing fur on everything everywhere, I have to.  However, things like mopping, dusting, and other shit I don’t want to do, I pay someone else to.

I struggled with the thought of this at first.  I love a clean apartment, but with my schedule I don’t have the time to dedicate to cleaning it.  I certainly don’t want to spend my weekend catching up on all the chores I skipped out on.  I can keep up with my dishes and usually the laundry before it consumes my closet.  But am I the type of person who hires someone else to come in and clean up after them?

Fuck yes, I am.

It’s fantastic.  And with a Living Social deal, coupon, or special the price isn’t that bad.  The first clean is always more expensive, because they do things you wouldn’t think to do; wash baseboards and such. Who does that?  Not me.  In addition to random things like that the cleaners wash counters, tubs, toilets, sinks, appliances, refrigerators, and floors in addition to dusting, changing bed linens, and more.  It felt like Christmas morning the first time I came home after a visit from the cleaning faeries.

Now, we get our apartment cleaned at least every 3 weeks.  I figure as long as we’re both working like we are and can afford to, we will continue keeping our maid service.  To those who work and/or have kids and can keep your home clean-  You’re wonderful, and I want to be like you when I grow up.  Until then, I’m keeping my faeries.

*Also, they fixed the blinds! I didn’t notice this until I looked at the pictures today.
