We have 9 days left in the DC.
In some ways, it doesn’t feel like we’ve been here for over 3 years, in other ways it feels like we’ve been living here for an eternity. We’ve made some great friends, done some pretty cool things, and survived the metro. Not bad. This isn’t really “goodbye” to DC since we’ll be returning when StinkBrain starts his A-100 class shortly after graduation. It’s easy to get tired of the politics and the tourists, but that aside, DC is a beautiful city that I’m sure I’ll miss during the next two years.
This summer has been particularly long and eventful, which is why I’ve been so horrible at posting. We’ve moved most of our stuff to Princeton, SB’s been working on the Hill, I’ve gotten a new assignment working from home, and we haven’t stopped- I don’t think we’ve had a single day to ourselves since May. Our activities for this summer include happy hours, BBQs, brunches, trivia nights, a drive in theater, a DC United game, Luray Caverns, Shenandoah National Park, fireworks at the Capitol, cheering the USWNT, and traveling to Atlanta for my best friend’s baby shower. We’ve spent this time with some great friends, old and new, and even made time for family. We’re broke now and that’s ok, these experiences were well worth it. I’m going to follow up later with some pics I’ve taken.
While I’m glad we got to do all of these things, I’m in need of a break. In 9 days, SB and I are going on a much needed third honeymoon, stateside this time. I’ll be deleting my Facebook and GroupMe apps and turning off all notifications, so my iPhone will be getting a break as well (with the exception of Instagram). SB and I are running away from all responsibility before he starts grad school and I get back to work. It’s been a while since our last honeymoon and I’m looking forward to seeing another part of the country while eating all the food, reading, and exploring. If you have any fun book recommendations, holla.
